Sea Kayaking

The west-coast of Great Barrier
Island offers the most sheltered
conditions for sea-kayaking, and best exploring opportunities.
Campgrounds are conveniently located 3-4 hours paddle
from Tryphena
at Whangaparapara, & also at Port Fitzroy a further
3-4 hours paddle.
Both campgrounds are maintained by DOC and are situated on the
waters edge. No fires are permitted, so bring a camping stove to
cook on. Shop's are located about half an hour walk from each
campground and wine can also be purchased.
Bring: Tent, sleeping bag, gas
cooking stove, pots & pans etc.
Experience: Some sea kayaking experience is necessary.

Departure from Pah Beach, Tryphena.
$40 per day (per person) & $35 after 3-days (includes campground fees).
